Carl Austin wins Mr Gay UK 2001

Carl Austin wins Mr Gay UK 2001 - Manchesters Carl Austin has won the coveted title of Mr Gay UK. In a change to this years final where the public decided the winner, the sexy finalists gathered in Manchester one last time on August Bank Holiday for Gayfest. Giving their last obligatory strut on stage before the announcement was made, someone was looking to stake their claim. The phone results were in after weeks of voting and contestants drumming up support for themselves as Terry George, the event Organiser and promotor named the Mr Gay UK 2001, Carl Austin. Harry French (last years winner) was on hand to hand over the crown to the new Mr Gay UK on the day.

The huge crowd in front of the main stage cheered on the twenty nine year old, an MD of his own promotions company was ecstatic.

Second was Shaun Manchip from plymouth and third was David Cody representing Newcastle.

A hectic social calendar is guaranteed for the winner, who will be required to give interviews galore and attend gay events up and down the country, the biggest being a PA at the Mardi Gras.
