Jarrod raises record funds for AKT

Jarrod Bachelor, a patron of the trust and current Mr Gay UK, dedicated the 15,000 from his win on Channel 4's The Games.

According to Bachelor, there could be no better benefactor. "I remember being bullied at school because I was gay and I wanted this money to go to AKT as they support young gay people at a time in their lives when they need it most," said Bachelor.

The money will be used to kick start funding for a carer/mentor programme.

Richard McKendrick said, "We continue to receive between two and three calls every day from vulnerable gay and lesbian teenagers desperately in need of our help. These young people may well end up on the street because we don't have the resources to help them.

"Jarrod is a shining example and an inspiration to all young gay teenagers growing up in a hostile environment because of their sexuality. We are delighted that he has chosen to give this money to the Albert Kennedy Trust," Richard McKendrick continued.

This is said to be the most any patron has raised for the Charity and the AKT are very please with the amount raised and hopes to work with Jarrod more after he hands over his Tiara this November live on LIVINGtv.
